TUCSON, Ariz. – FC Tucson added depth to its back line on Wednesday as the club announced the signing defender Gilbert Oord for the 2019 USL League One season pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be released.
Oord spent the last eight seasons competing for Dutch club AVV Zeeburgia. He showed off his versatility during his stint with the club, playing multiple positions before solidifying himself as one of the best defenders on the team.
Oord joins FC Tucson after a successful trial with the club’s USL Championship partner Phoenix Rising FC, where he featured in a recent friendly against MLS side Sporting Kansas City.
“I am very thankful for this opportunity and look forward to a successful season in Tucson,” Oord said.
FC Tucson’s roster now stands at 12 players for the 2019 USL League One season, with Oord joining Roy Abergil, Kyle Bjornethun, Guillermo Delgado, Karsten Hanlin, Austin Ledbetter, Moshe Perez, Raheem Somersall, Kyle Venter, Kody Wakasa, Kienan Weekes and Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu.
