Lee, Smart, & Labovitz each take home a pair of post-season awards from the Triumph technical staff
Greenville, SC (Nov. 10, 2022) – The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club honored players with the club’s post-season Player Awards, highlighting both on field and off field accomplishments as voted on by head coach John Harkes and the club’s technical staff. A total of six awards were given to five players for the 2022 season, including the 2022 MVP presented by Wilson & Englebardt, Coaches Choice Player of the Year, Coaches Choice Rookie of the Year, The Greenvillian Humanitarian Award presented by Pelham Medical Center, Attacking Player of the Year & Defensive Player of the Year.

Lee headlined the group, earning MVP after a season that saw the veteran center back earn his first USL League One All-league team honors. On the attacking front, rookie Jacob Labovitz took home two awards following his club-leading 12 goals in 2022. Don Smart’s on-field success during a resurgent second season in Greenville buoyed his great work in the locker room and the Upstate community, as he was voted Coaches’ Choice POTY and joined Brandon Fricke and Evan Lee as co-winners of the club’s Humanitarian award.
The Greenville Triumph concluded its fourth-consecutive playoff run with a 1-0 loss to eventual champion-Tormenta FC in the semifinals. The club finished a notable season with a 12-8-10 record, two players tallying USL League One awards and two more nominated. Head Coach, John Harkes also became the only coach in the league with four-consecutive playoff appearances.
