Get to know the Greenville Triumph coaching and technical staff.

Dave Dixon
Dave Dixon enters his first season as head coach of Greenville Triumph SC in 2026, becoming the third head coach in club history. A highly respected figure in the USL ecosystem, Dixon joins Greenville from Charlotte Independence, where he served multiple stints as an assistant coach, and brings deep ties to the Carolinas through his time as Director of Soccer for FC Carolina. Known for his ability to scout and develop young talent, Dixon has coached at every level of the USL, including Indy Eleven, Charlotte Eagles, and Mississippi Brilla FC, and was named PDL Coach of the Year in 2015 after leading the Eagles to a national championship in 2017. Dixon has 29 years of coaching experience, a US Soccer A License, and a United Soccer Coaches Premier License.

Joel Tyson
Tyson joins the Triumph after spending the 2025 season as an assistant coach at NC State, where the Wolfpack enjoyed a historic run to the NCAA College Cup Final, narrowly falling 3–2 to Washington in extra time. That standout season saw four NC State players selected in the MLS SuperDraft, highlighted by Nikola Markovic being chosen first overall.
Prior to his time in Raleigh, Tyson served as the head coach of Wofford College men’s soccer from 2018–2025. During his six seasons leading the Terriers, his student-athletes earned 22 All-Southern Conference honors, including one SoCon Player of the Year and two SoCon Freshman of the Year awards. Tyson was also named Southern Conference Coach of the Year in 2023.
Tyson brings additional professional experience, having served as first assistant coach and director of sports performance for New Mexico United in 2018, as well as spending two seasons with Charlotte Independence beginning in 2017.

Ryan McKie
Mckie has been with the Triumph for eight seasons. Graduate of Furman University where he was a wide receiver and kick returner on the 2004 SoCon Championship team and the 2005 national semi-finalist squad. All-time leading receiver for Hillcrest High School’s football team. McKie brings over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry, having trained athletes from the PGA, LPGA, NFL, CFL, MLS and MLB. Co-owner of Knight Performance Factory in Greenville.

Juan “Choco” Villegas
Choco is a former professional goalkeeper with more than 10 years of experience playing in the top divisions of Colombia and Argentina. He has successfully transitioned to coaching, accumulating over 10 years of experience at various levels. Juan Guillermo is certified by both the Argentine Soccer Coaches Association (ATFA) under CONMEBOL and the US Soccer Federation, demonstrating his commitment to coaching excellence. He currently serves as Diplomat Premier Director at the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA), where he is dedicated to developing young players.
Technical Staff

Austin yearwood
Yearwood will oversee soccer operations, ensuring the team and players are fully supported from an operational standpoint. In addition, he will serve as the club’s head scout, responsible for identifying, evaluating and tracking talent across both the professional and collegiate landscapes. As a player, Yearwood made over 100 appearances in the USL Championship between the Charlotte Independence, Richmond Kickers and New Mexico United. Before turning pro, Yearwood played three seasons in the PDL (now USL League Two) while attending High Point University.
