GREENVILLE, SC – On Sunday, July 15, Greenville Pro Soccer (GPS) hosted a World Cup Finals viewing party at Brewery 85. More than 300 soccer supporters joined in watching the beautiful game. The match day festivities included an attendees’ first drink being compliments of Greenville Pro Soccer, the Groovy Dawg food truck and a 50/50 raffle with GPS’ half of the proceeds being donated to the Carolina High School soccer programs.
“The World Cup provided Greenville Pro Soccer the opportunity to promote our great sport, interact with the Upstate’s soccer fans and most importantly, give back to the community,” said Megan Dotson, Greenville Pro Soccer’s Vice President of Partnership Marketing and Community Relations. “Our team is very community-focused, and this was a great opportunity to join local soccer supporters and help a school that is really in need of resources.”
With limited funding from the school or booster programs, the Carolina High School soccer programs have minimal funds to help support their athletes. Greenville Pro Soccer wanted to help fill this void with a 50/50 raffle. Tickets were $1 for one ticket or $10 for an arm sleeve and were sold until halftime.
“The Carolina High School soccer program is very grateful for this donation,” said Carolina High soccer coach Drew Brittain. “Through this donation, our players will have access to equipment that is essential to playing the sport. We hope this will help continue to foster hard-working, collaborative student-athletes that are prepared for the field and life after high school.”
“The boys and girls soccer programs at Carolina High School are tremendously thankful for the thoughtfulness of Greenville Pro Soccer and the club’s donation,” said Carolina High School Director of Athletics, Thomas Fair. “This will have a positive impact on the teams and the Carolina community overall.”
“Greenville Pro Soccer and Carolina High School’s Athletic Department share the belief that play/sport is important to the growth of today’s youth, and we appreciate the generosity and participation of the soccer fans who supported the CHS men’s and women’s soccer programs through our 50/50 raffle,” said Dotson.
Greenville Pro Soccer appreciates all the support at its World Cup viewing party and looks forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the community in the future.
