Greenville, SC – Travis Ward and Dominic Boland have been signed to the Greenville Triumph Soccer Club’s roster ahead of their inaugural season, pending league and federation approval.
Ward and Boland both participated in the team’s tryouts held on November 17 and 18.
“It is a dream come true,” said Ward of earning a spot on the inaugural season roster. “Getting the phone call from a New Jersey soccer legend like John Harkes was the best moment of my soccer career. I’m ready to build on that moment and make Greenville proud.”
Ward, a forward, spent 2014-2017 at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. He was named to the NJAC All-Conference team three times and earned the title of CSI tournament MVP in 2016. In his 70 appearances for the school, he managed 29 goals and 16 assists.
The New Jersey native comes to the Triumph after spending the 2018 season with the Philadelphia Fury of the American Soccer League. The forward tallied 4 goals and 5 assists in 10 games played.
“I’m extremely excited to help our team in whatever way I can,” said Ward. “The energy and excitement of fans on social media has me ready to not only contribute on the field but make the entire city proud in everything I do in my new home.”
Boland, a defender from Glasgow, Scotland, recently completed two seasons at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina. In 2017, Boland earned the honors of Second-team All-Conference Carolinas, Conference Carolinas All-Tournament team and Second-Team United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region.
In 2018, he helped the Limestone University Saints repeat as regular season conference champions and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Boland most recently spent time with Asheville City SC of the NPSL.
“Hard work and determination to win and succeed is a top priority when it comes to playing soccer,” said Boland. “I try do all I can so the team will succeed and give the fans some excitement!”
Ward and Boland join nine other players on the inaugural season roster.
