The Greenville Triumph will travel to Statesboro, Georgia to face Tormenta FC Friday in the inaugural match for USL League One. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm Eastern and will be streamed across the United States on ESPN+ and internationally on Youtube.
History Makers
The meetup between the Triumph and Tormenta marks the first game in USL League One History. The USL League One is composed of 10 teams in its first year. After years of development, it’s finally game time.
Defense
Another thing to be on the lookout for is Greenville’s experienced back line. A strong core of players with USL Championship and Major League Soccer experience anchor the defense for the Triumph. Watch as the group looks to control possession and aggressively push forward throughout the match.
The Other Guys
Tormenta FC played the 2018 season in USL League Two, and they have signed a number of players from the 2018 squad to accompany them on their move to the professional ranks. Their experience playing together last season will provide a challenge for Greenville as a new team.
Greenville comes into the regular season after meetings with the New England Revolution (MLS) and Ottawa Fury (USL Championship) during their training stint at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. Upon their return to the Upstate, they compiled a 4-0-1 record in preseason matches against local universities.
Friday’s match is the first of four meetings for the two clubs.
