Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph goalkeeper Dallas Jaye has been selected to the Guam Men’s National Team, the Matao, for their upcoming matches in the first round of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022/AFC Asian Cup 2023 preliminary joint qualifiers.
The Matao will play in the first leg of the competition at the Bhutan Football Federation on June 6 before travelling back to Guam to host Bhutan on June 11 for the 2nd leg. The winner of this pairing will advance to Round 2, set to begin in September.
“Playing for Guam has been a special part of my career so far,” said Jaye. “I’m looking forward to being a part of it again soon.”
Jaye made his international debut for Guam in 2012. In 2014, Jaye stepped on the field as a substitute and helped preserve a 3-0 victory against Chinese Taipei after stopping a penalty kick in the 88th minute.
After a solid performance from Jaye, Guam earned a clean sheet against Oman in 2016.
The 25-year-old is currently tied for third in USL League One with three clean sheets on the season. He has started in all 9 games for the Triumph this season and has only conceded 6 goals.
