No. 5 Greenville Triumph SC (8-6-6) head to Canada to face Toronto FC II (6-8-6) for the second time this season.
What To Watch For:
Quality in the Final Third: The last meeting against TFCII ended in a decisive 3-1 victory for the Triumph, where the side showcased their ability to be fluid and aggressive in the final third. However, following the 0-0 draw last Saturday, Coach John Harkes felt that what was missing was the ability to connect into the offensive third and create dangerous opportunities with the final ball. For Greenville, they will need to focus on quality distribution and decision-making in and around the final third to beat a Toronto team that’s hungry for revenge.
A Big Push: For the past two weeks, Greenville has stayed stagnant at No. 5 in the standings despite the win over TFCII earlier this month and tallying a point after the 0-0 draw with Madison last Saturday. South Georgia Tormenta (No. 3, 32 pts) and the Chattanooga Red Wolves (No. 4, 32 pts) played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday Aug. 21st to put both teams within the Triumph’s reach. Three points in Toronto could be exactly what Greenville needs to finally break into a top four slot.
Depth: The Triumph have been dealing with injuries over the last month to key players such as Kevin Politz and Cam Saul. Both aforementioned players are available to play adding more depth which can only prove useful as the final games of the season loom and playoffs begin.
