Greenville, SC – The Triumph’s push for the playoffs will have to continue without two key players, as forward Jake Keegan and midfielder Max Hemmings are set to miss the remainder of the club’s inaugural season following surgeries this week.
Keegan, one of the top contenders for League One’s Golden Boot Award, underwent foot surgery for an injury sustained late in the club’s 1-0 win at Forward Madison on August 28th. Keegan leads the Triumph with nine goals on the season and started all 22 matches before his injury.
Midfielder Max Hemmings suffered an ACL injury in the closing minutes of the first half of last Saturday’s loss in Richmond, colliding with Kickers keeper Akira Fitzgerald and landing awkwardly on his leg. Hemmings was forced to leave the match and underwent surgery on Wednesday. Hemmings started 13 matches after joining the club in late April.
“Max and Jake have been very valuable to our club this season,” said Head Coach John Harkes. “We’ll miss them during our final stretch, but it provides opportunity for others to step up. We’ve created a great culture here and we hope that this adversity will be something that strengthens our club as we push for the playoffs.”
