Greenville, SC – GTSC midfielder Carlos Gomez has been voted USL League One’s Player of the Month for September and October after recording five goals and 18 chances created in six appearances to help his side advance to the 2019 USL League One Playoffs.
With leading scorer Jake Keegan sidelined due to a season-ending injury, Gomez helped pick up the slack for Greenville’s attack. Gomez recorded the club’s first hat trick in a 4-0 win against FC Tucson on September 13 and found the net once more during the following 3-1 win against Toronto FC II. Both wins helped to get Greenville’s playoff push back on track.
The central midfielder has played an active two-way role over the final six games of the regular season for Triumph SC, completing 128 of 159 passes and 12 of 14 dribbles, winning 35 of 63 duels and recording 34 recoveries over the final stretch of the campaign.
Gomez received 64 percent of a weighted poll that included the USL League One Technical Committee and an online fan vote held at USLLeagueOne.com. The Triumph travel to Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas to compete for the USL League One Final on October 19 at 7:00pm . Match details can be found here.
