Greenville, SC – Triumph SC Goalkeeper and League One Goalkeeper of the Year Dallas Jaye will round out his 2019 season on international duty with Guam as The Matao competes in Round 2 of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round for 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
Jaye made his international debut with Guam in 2012 and would step on the field two years later to preserve the Matao’s 3-0 lead against Chinese Taipei by saving a penalty kick in the 88th minute.
“I’ve been fortunate to be around the full men’s team for Guam for six, seven years now, so it’s something I never take for granted but also something I’m very accustomed to now,” said Jaye. “The offseason has taken a backseat at the moment, but it’s around the corner. I’m looking forward to one more competitive match this year in what will be a big one for us because it’s a very winnable game.”
The Matao will travel to Maldives to face the National ‘A’ Team of Maldives on November 19th, 2019. Guam is a member of Group A which also includes Syria, China PR, Philippines and Maldives. Matches act as joint qualification rounds for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
It’s yet another honor in a breakout season for Jaye that saw him honored as League One’s Golden Glove winner and Goalkeeper of the Year, in addition to being named the league’s Player of the Month for August.
