Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph SC has re-signed Georgia native and 2019 co-captain Aaron Walker for the 2020 season with an option for 2021, pending league and federation approval. Walker joins returning players Dallas Jaye, Tyler Polak, Jake Keegan, Evan Lee and Paul Clowes on Greenville’s 2020 roster.
Walker was a key component in Greenville’s midfield, logging 2,577 minutes across 29 starts during the team’s championship-contending season. Subbed off only four times throughout the season, Walker tallied three goals and one assist with 15 shots on target, including a dramatic match-winning goal in the 88th minute to defeat Orlando City B on July 13th. Walker also made four appearances on the USL League One Team of the Week throughout Greenville’s inaugural campaign.
“I’m really excited for Aaron to be back,” said coach John Harkes. “He stepped up this year both on the field, as a midfielder, and off the field as one of our captains. It’s always important to have a guy like Aaron Walker as part of your core group of players — humble, great work ethic and wants to get better. Aaron’s hungry for a championship.”
Walker spent his 2018 season as captain of the NPSL Atlanta Silverbacks before signing with Greenville in 2019. Walker previously played with Head Coach John Harkes at FC Cincinnati in 2016.
