Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph SC has announced the signing of former FC Tucson midfielder Colin Stripling, pending league and federation approval. Stripling becomes the second newcomer to Triumph club set to return a strong 2019 core for the club’s second USL League One season in 2020.
“I’m excited to join the Triumph and build on their successful inaugural season,” said Stripling. “After a year in the league, Greenville’s electric atmosphere stood out. Every time I lace up, I’m looking forward to playing for fans of the city. That’s what matters.”
Stripling spent his 2019 season with west-coast club FC Tucson, appearing in ten games, with five starts and 520 total minutes played. The 25-year-old midfielder signed with Tucson after a four year starting role at Monmouth University. Tallying 15 career goals and nine assists, Stripling was a 2017 All-MAAC 2nd Team selection. Stripling, a New Jersey native, also held a brief tenure with the USL League Two club, Seattle Sounders U23.
“We’re happy to add the quality of Colin to our roster,” said Head Coach John Harkes. “He’s a dynamic midfielder that has a clean first touch and awareness, and he’s got great character. He will strengthen our team.”
Stripling joins fellow newcomer Brandon Fricke on the veteran-filled Triumph roster that includes 2019 GK of the Year Dallas Jaye, co-captains Tyler Polak and Aaron Walker, as well as the team’s leading goal scorer Jake Keegan. View the full 2020 roster here.
