Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph SC has announced the signing of forward Lachlan McLean and defenders Cesar Murillo and Trevor Swartz, pending league and federation approval.
McLean, a Sydney, Australian native, comes to the Triumph following a standout collegiate career at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. The previous Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman and All-MAC First Team member appeared in 61 games for SIUE, scoring 20 goals with nine assists for a total of 49 points. Before moving to the States, McLean raked in 50 goals in 61 games in the top league for New South Whales.
In addition to McLean, Greenville has added to their defensive depth with two previous USL League One players in Trevor Swartz and Cesar Murillo. Swartz, a left back from Cameron Park, California, comes to the Triumph from Toronto FC II, where he appeared in six matches. Swartz graduated from the University of Indiana, where he was a three-time All-Academic Big Ten scholar athlete, leading the Hosiers in assists during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He finished his time with Indiana as a Second Team All-Big Ten selection while leading the NCAA in assists (16) during the 2018 season.
Murillo, an El Paso native, comes to Greenville from reigning League One champions, North Texas SC. The defender appeared in 13 League One games last season with seven starts. A 2018 graduate of College of Charleston, Murillo was an All-Colonial Athletic Association selection playing 66 total games as captain for the Cougars.
“We have a lot of great pieces coming in mixed with players returning from last year,” said Murillo. “I think we have the potential to win it all this year.”
