Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph players returned to the field Monday following an absence of nearly two months, as training resumed in small groups under new guidelines from the United Soccer League and local health officials amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Though the action was limited to non-contact drills between groups of two to three players, smiles were plentiful as players hit the fields at Bob Jones University. Small groups arrived in shifts throughout the day, each going through screenings prior to hitting the field.
“Having the players back on the training ground is a great step in the direction we all want to head,” said club president Chris Lewis. “While the groups are small, the ability to train again at our facility will have a positive impact on the morale of our players, coaches and club as a whole.”
The club will continue to train daily in small groups while they await further direction from the USL on the next steps in a plan to safely ramp up training as the league continues to evaluate possibilities for the 2020 season.
