Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph Head Coach and Sporting Director John Harkes has completed the courses necessary to be a part of the graduating class for the U.S. Soccer Federation’s 2020 Pro Coaching License, having earned the honor following a year-long course.
The course is for the highest level of USSF license available, and Harkes is one of just 11 people in the country and five within the USL Championship and League One to make up the graduating class of 2020.
A member of the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame for his outstanding playing career, Harkes has achieved notable success since joining the coaching ranks. After a successful inaugural 2019 season that saw a run to the League One Final, Harkes led the Triumph to the 2020 League One Title this past fall.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to experience such a high level of education,” said Harkes. “While it was unfortunate that we could not meet up in person as much as we would have liked, this course pushed me to discover my true purpose in coaching.”
“The U.S. Soccer Pro Course refined my coaching approach and has helped me prepare for the highest levels of coaching,” continued Harkes. “I approach my third season with USL League One Greenville Triumph SC with optimism, constant humility, and a fine-tuned approach. I was fully engaged in the learning and teaching experience and have benefited greatly. I feel very fortunate to have been selected for this tremendous course.”
