Greenville, SC – The Greenville Triumph Soccer club has announced the signing of forward/midfielder Nico Brown, pending league and federation approval. Brown has been practicing with the club the last two weeks, and is expected to be eligible for selection ahead of Greenville’s match against Toronto FC II on Friday, September 3rd.
Brown, originally Atlanta, Georgia, comes to the Triumph after most recently playing for the Maryland Bobcats. He started two of the Bobcats’ first three matches of their 2021 fall season, logging 90 minutes in both appearances. Brown also logged 208 minutes and one goal during this year’s Legends Cup. He played his collegiate soccer at Loyola (MD) from 2016 to 2019, and was selected to All-Patriot League teams in both the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Brown spent time in the DC United Academy system before committing to Loyola. He holds dual citizenship with the United States and Jamaica, and made multiple appearances as a member of the U17 Jamaican National Team.
“We are excited to add Nico to our roster,” said head coach John Harkes. “Nico brings a great personality and work ethic to the team. His creativity, attacking runs and his ability to take on players are great qualities to add to our club. I’m looking forward to seeing him compete for time in our group.”
Brown joins a Triumph club looking for an offensive spark as they try to turn around a recent run of losses. The club faces Toronto FC II at home this Friday, September 3rd at 7:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
