Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph Head Coach John Harkes will miss this weekend’s match against the Chattanooga Red Wolves following a positive COVID test, the team announced Friday. Greenville is set to play Chattanooga Saturday, September 11 at 7:00 PM.
“It’s unfortunate that I have tested positive with a breakthrough case of COVID-19,” said Harkes. “I’m fully vaccinated and thankfully feeling well, which I believe is largely due to the protection of the vaccine. I’d encourage everyone to consider getting it if they haven’t already done so. I believe our club’s high vaccination rate helped prevent the spread of my positive test results, and I have full confidence in our coaching staff and players as we continue to make our playoff push this weekend against a strong Chattanooga side. Together we Triumph!”
It is expected that assistants Rick Wright and Alex Blackburn will share coaching duties for this weekend’s match. Greenville heads into Saturday looking to continue their winning ways after a 3-0 victory against Toronto on 9/3 that pushed them back above the playoff cut line.
