WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club hosts its’ third league home match of the season on Friday, April 29 against the Chattanooga Red Wolves at 7:00pm, presented by ScanSource.
A challenging two-loss week is in the rear view as Greenville looks for its’ first league win of the season. The team led Tormenta FC across all stats last Saturday, but was unable to earn a result, losing 2-0. Despite showing well in both Open Cup matches, Greenville has not found the results it has wanted in league play, sitting 0-2-1 this year.
Key difference-makers will be a big help to the home team this Friday, as Evan Lee returns to the defensive line and potentially a healthy Lucas Coutinho looks to add to the midfield. It will be critical for Greenville to get some points on the board with their opponent having tallied at least one point in each of their matches. Jake Keegan leads the team with two goals on the year, but Don Smart and newcomer, Venton Evans are only one behind with a goal each. Greenville has been plentiful in creating opportunities, but the team will need to find the back of the net to walk away with three points tomorrow night.
Friday night’s opponent, Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, sits second in USL League standings. They hold a 2-1-1 record this season after beating the first-ranked, Richmond Kickers 1-0 and the only club played by both teams, NCFC, 3-1. The Tennessee club was handed its’ first loss last Saturday against FC Tucson after a match-defining penalty kick in the 90th minute won the match for Tucson.
The Red Wolves will return to Triumph Stadium for the first time since being defeated in the League One semifinals last winter. Greenville looks to repeat that victory and come away with their first league win of the season.
