Jones, Meredith round out current Clemson players on Liberty Roster
Greenville, SC (May 4, 2022) – The Greenville Liberty SC has announced the signing of its final two Clemson players for 2022. Forwards, Sami Meredith and Courtney Jones will be joining the team pending league and federation approval. Meredith and Jones will be playing alongside Clemson teammates’ Caroline Conti, Hal Hershfelt and Megan Bornkamp announced earlier this spring. The USL W League allows up to five active players from a single college or university.
As a Tiger, Meredith has appeared in 19 matches, recording three goals and three assists, earning 1147 minutes. During the 2020-21 season, she was 2-for-2 for penalty kicks in the postseason and scored the winning goal in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen match. Prior to her time at Clemson, the forward also spent a season at their in-state rivals, appearing at the University of South Carolina. The Charleston Native played 317 minutes in 17 matches for the Gamecocks and scoring a goal during her first collegiate season. Meredith competed in club soccer for Carolina Elite Soccer Academy and in high school for Wando High School. She was a Gatorade Player of the Year Nominee in 2018, earned All-State honors in 2018 and 2017, and was the 5A Region 7 Player of the year and Soccer.com Super XXII Player of the Year in 2017.
Jones completed her senior season at Clemson in fall 2021, tallying six assists and two goals in 62 matches for the Tigers. The Indiana native was a member of the 2018-19 ACC Honor Roll and earned Third-Team All-ACC honors in 2020. Prior to her collegiate experience, the forward set the North Central High School career goal-scoring record and attended U14, U15 and U18 U.S. Youth National Team training camps. She also participated in High School All-American game, was named to All-State team four times, and made two appearances for the Costa Rican team. Jones is looking to continue her soccer career with her final years of eligibility and complete her Doctorate of Psychology.
