WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club visits North Carolina FC Saturday, May 21st, in Cary, NC for a 7:00 PM Eastern match. This will be the second match of the season at WakeMed for Greenville,drawing 1-1 on April 23rd in the first matchup.
Greenville enters Saturday’s road match defending a three-match unbeaten streak. In their only May home match, Greenville was able to capitalize on their attacking prowess and come away with a 2-0 shutout win over Forward Madison last Friday.
Following a string of home matches early in the season, this will be the Triumph’s third away competition and second at NCFC. When the two sides met earlier this year, both walked away with a point after a hard-fought draw. Greenville sits only one spot ahead of North Carolina in league standings, at sixth and seventh, respectively. Greenville is hoping to continue its recent run of success on Saturday night by adding another three points and running its unbeaten streak to four.
North Carolina FC holds a 2-3-1 record in league play this season, losing their most recent battle with Tormenta FC, 2-3, on May 14th. The NC club also fell to North Colorado Hailstorm and Chattanooga, the current leaders in League One standings. Their two wins this season have come against Tormenta FC earlier in the year and against FC Tucson.
