WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club is back at home on a short turnaround for the club’s first midweek league match of the season, Wednesday, June 29th a 7:00 PM. Greenville will face off against North Carolina FC for their lone matchup in Triumph Stadium, and the last of three regular season meetings between the two clubs in 2022.
After winning four of its last five matches, Greenville jumps to the top of the table with a 6-4-2 record. This match will mark Greenville’s second competition in five days, following 2-1 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday, June 25th.
Last weekend the Triumph saw the return of defender, Jamie Smith to the pitch following an ankle injury early in the year. Both Aaron Walker and Jesus Ibarra also garnered minutes post-injuries, with Ibarra scoring his first goal of the season to seal the match for Greenville.
NCFC is coming off a close 3-2 loss to Fuego FC last Saturday. Prior to June 25th, the team had been undefeated in its last 4 matches, including tallying their sole club win against Greenville. The North Carolina side currently sits 4th in the league with a 5-4-2 record.
