Triumph SC bolsters goalkeeping depth after injury to Ben Hale
Greenville, SC (August 18, 2022) – The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club has announced the signing of goalkeeper, Jared Mazzola to the 2022 roster pending league and federation approval. Mazzola may be available for selection as early as Saturday against FC Tucson to earn his first professional appearance for the Triumph.
This will be Mazzola’s first professional contract following two seasons in USL League Two. Mazzola spent the first half of 2022 at AFC Ann Arbor, where he recorded 270 minutes in the net and a .67 goals against average. Prior to Ann Arbor, the New York native appeared in five matches for the NY Red Bulls U23s in 2021.
Mazzolla entered League Two after graduating from Quinnipiac University with an expansive resume in 2021. The goalkeeper tallied 3979 minutes, appeared in 43 matches, and boasted a 78% save percentage during his three years.In spring of 2021, he was named MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year, All-MAAC Team, and MAAC All-Academic Team.
Mazzola, who has been training with the team since the beginning of August, fills a need for Greenville after an injury to back-up keeper Ben Hale. Mazzola joins Derek Waldeck as the second signing of the week for the first-place Greenville Triumph as the club enters the final stretch of the 2022 League One season.
