WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club will travel to Arizona for a late-night match against FC Tucson for the third and final regular season matchup between the two clubs in 2022.
Greenville is riding the momentum a big win over Richmond last Saturday, which put them back at the top of the League One standings. Now they must look to the opposite end of the standings at FC Tucson, currently holding the 11th position. Despite injuries, the Triumph have sustained their depth throughout the season, supplementing the squad this week by adding North Texas defender, Derek Waldeck and AFC Ann Arbor goalkeeper, Jared Mazzola. Both look to make their first appearances in the Triumph eighteen in the desert on Saturday. In addition to the injury report, Greenville will be without midfielder Venton Evans this weekend. Evans, who assisted on the match-winning goal against Richmond, will travel to Europe to represent the Jamaican National Team in the Austria Mini Tournament August 20-26.
FC Tucson is 4-10-4 this season, including a draw that came against Greenville the last time these two teams met. Tucson found success in their match on Wednesday against Hailstorm coming away with a 2-1 victory. With tired legs, they will need to recover quickly to hang with the league’s top side on Saturday.
