WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club begins its longest road campaign of the season this weekend as they meet the Independence at American Legion Memorial Stadium for a Friday night match.
After a disappointing result Saturday, Greenville slid to third place in league standings, eclipsed by Union Omaha and Richmond. Greenville has an opportunity to bounce back with six more matches in the regular season, including rematches against both sides on the road. A Greenville win on Friday against the Independence would give them added security and increase a below-average point differential for the Upstate side.
Their I-85 rival, Charlotte, is sitting at ninth place in the league but is only three points shy of a playoff position. The North Carolina team is 8-10-6 on the season and most recently took a loss from the twelfth ranked team, FC Tucson. As the regular season winds down into post season, the matches are getting tighter and every point counts as Greenville looks to lock down a home playoff match.
