WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club will fly west for their last road match of the September stretch.
Greenville has maintained their position in League One rankings the last three weeks, holding steady at 3rd. After a trialing match for Greenville last weekend against Omaha, the South Carolina side was able to fight out a point despite dropping to 9 men. That gritty draw for the men in green may help propel them into that second-place spot just before playoffs. Nevertheless, the Triumph will be feeling the repercussions of the last match with midfielders, Miles Fenton ineligible to play this Saturday and Noah Franke out due to injury. However, Greenville will not be without the fortifying presence of Brandon Fricke in the backline as he will be available for the 18 after winning an appeal for his second yellow card last match.
Chattanooga, Tormenta, and Charlotte all inch closer to the top hovering just three or four points below Greenville. A win for anyone this weekend could overtake the third-place club if Greenville cannot capitalize on the road. A Wednesday night match shook things up on the table above Greenville, as Omaha fell 2-1 to NOCO, now only one point ahead of Greenville. Currently 11-8-7, the Triumph have the potential to move ahead Omaha if they earn three points this Saturday against Colorado.
Coming off an upset over Union Omaha, Hailstorm moved to 9-10-8 sitting at 7th just below the postseason cutoff. Despite their position in the table NOCO has won 3 out of their last 5 matches, one of the more successful records in the previous months, and a two-point goal differential which is higher than Charlotte, Tormenta and Greenville.
