Former FC Tucson midfielder pens a deal with Triumph
Greenville, SC (January 12, 2023)- The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club announced its first new player signing of 2023 on Thursday, inking former FC Tucson midfielder Tevin Shaw to a contract for the 2023 season. Pending league and federation approval, Shaw will join a pack of 12 returners announced last week.
After a slow start to his 2022 League One season due to national team call-ups and injury, Shaw saw action in 18 league matches and the US Open Cup, totaling 976 minutes on the pitch. He has been called up to the Jamaican national team six times, making his debut in January 2018 against South Korea. Shaw joins fellow Jamaican national, Venton Evans as the second player to join the Reegae Boyz on the 2023 Triumph squad.
This season will mark Shaw’s second year stateside following a year in the CanadianPremier League with Athletico Ottawa for 2021. While there, the 25-year-old appeared in 18 matches, recording 832 minutes. In his home country, Shaw tacked his name on the rosters of three clubs between 2014-2020, including Portmore United FC, Tivoli Gardens and Boys’ Town Kingston.
Shaw is the first new signing of 2023 for Greenville, joining 12 returning players announced earlier this month. Yesterday the club announced its 2023 regular season schedule, starting on March 25th against the Richmond Kickers at Paladin Stadium in Greenville, SC. Fans can purchase 2023 season tickets here.
