WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Triumph secured its fifth-consecutive postseason appearance last week. Regardless of this weekend’s results, Greenville will face Charlotte in their first-round match. However, to remain in contention to host the match, Greenville will need to collect a win versus Lexington and hope for dropped points from Charlotte in their match.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
LEX- Ates Diouf, forward: After an eventful 13-card match with NCFC, including three red cards, Lexington will be without two of their starters, Pierre Mané and Terique Mohammed. Luckily for the Kentucky side, September Player of the Month, Diouf will be available to lead the offense. He notched five goals last month adding to his total of 15 this season.
GVL- Allen Gavilanes, midfielder: Gavilanes is peaking at the optimal time for Greenville as they head into playoffs. His efforts last week won him TOTW honors after he collected his eighth assist this season. Gavilanes’ focus has shifted in recent matches to be more direct toward the goal. The 24-year-old is clinical in front of the net, this adjustment helped Gavilanes record his first goal of 2023 against Richmond and threaten defenses on another level.
