After making it to their first-ever USL League One Final, Charlotte has had a rocky start to the season having played just two matches, with one win and one loss. The Jacks have brought back some of their key players from last year to try and recoup its 2023 success. Both the Triumph and Independence have split minutes between Open Cup matches over the last month. Each side will have a quick turnaround as they move onto Round 3 of the Tournament next Tuesday.

Players to Watch
Austin Pack- Pack returns to Charlotte as USL League One’s record holder for saves in a single season, surpassing the previous record of 105. The goalkeeper was also named USL League One Goalkeeper of the Year by the league’s coaches and to the 2023 USL League One All-League First Team. Currently, Pack sits fourth in the league with seven saves in just two matches.
Nick Spielman- The last-minute, 2023 season addition proved to be a crucial asset across the backline for the Independence. Returning to the team the defender has started 2024 off with 10 duels won, 13 clearances, and three blocks, earning a spot on the League’s Team of the Week for Week 4.
Luis Álvarez– The young midfielder returns to Charlotte after a great end to his rookie season where he recorded an assist in the 2023 USL League One Final. During Week 4, Álvarez was responsible for the match-winning goal against Spokane deep in stoppage time earning him Player of the Week alongside teammate, Nick Spielman.
Kits
Charlotte released their 2024 Home kit on March 7th, paying tribute to their fans, their city, and the 10th anniversary of the club. The royal blue kit, accented in gold, showcases their history and story, featuring details from all previous jerseys worn by the Independence throughout the years. Within the royal blue base are faded Jacks, the symbol of the Independence, which are featured on both the home and away kits. These historical kits represent their vision for the future, reflecting on the teams that made the club what it is today.
