Match #8 Info- Greenville Triumph (GVL) at Richmond Kickers (RIC)
Club
The Richmond Kickers have had a treacherous start to their season with a 1-3-2 record following a disappointing finish last year where the team failed to make playoffs. They also have a tie and a loss in the USL Jägermeister Cup. The tie occurred in a game against the Triumph, where the Kickers would eventually win in a shootout 5-3. With the teams returning to league play, Greenville has a chance to make this rematch count.
Players to Watch
Adrian Billhardt- Billhardt is in his first season with the Kickers, since returning from the Detroit City in the USL Championship. He leads the team in scoring with four goals and averaging one goal per match. Billhardt received a nomination for April Player of the Month and League One Goal of the Week where he scored Richmond’s first goal of the year. Billhardt is experienced in USL play, as he has been in the league since 2019.
Ryan Sierakowski- Sierakowski is another experienced USL player who has impacted the Kickers season with 314 minutes and six matches under his belt. He made league history on July 15, 2023, when he scored his first Kickers’ goal against Greenville Triumph SC, making him the first player in league history to register a goal with four different League One clubs. The forward scored Richmond’s only goal against the Triumph in the first round of the USL Jägermeister Cup. The Triumph will look to stop this from repeating in regular season play.
Kits
Richmond’s 2024 Home kit is the Seeing Red kit debuted on February 29th. The bright red Adidas kit features white accents for logos and lettering. The kit pays homage to the classic Kickers color scheme and America’s longest-continuously operating outdoor soccer club for over 30 years. The kit is a direct opposite of the team’s away kit, which features a white primary color and red lettering.
