Greenville, SC – The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club has announced the opening of a brick-and-mortar team store, to be located in the heart of downtown Greenville at 22 S. Main Street. The location, which functioned as a holiday pop-up shop for the Triumph, will also serve as the club’s new office headquarters housing club leadership, ticketing, sponsorship, marketing and community relations staff members.
“We are incredibly excited to join the downtown Greenville business community with a Main Street-based club headquarters and Triumph Team Store,” said Triumph president Chris Lewis. “This space provides a fantastic setting for our business operation and enables us to create not only a great, new retail location for Main Street, but also a place that will provide a fun and unique experience for Upstate residents and visitors alike!”
Located just a short walk up Main Street from Falls Park, the new Triumph store and front office headquarters will be the newest retail addition to Greenville’s thriving Main Street and will provide Greenvillians and visitors to the Upstate with a new spot to shop, talk sports and attend special events. The club will utilize this new headquarters location to extend the GTSC experience beyond Triumph Stadium at Legacy Early College and as a vehicle to continue its mission of bringing joy to the Upstate through the game of soccer.
In addition to contributing to the great experience Upstate families and visitors can have downtown, the team store will also offer a larger selection of Triumph merchandise than the game day location at Legacy Early College, featuring numerous products for men, women and kids. The downtown shop will also offer exclusive items only available via the Main Street store, special-edition and early-release items, and in-store pickup for items ordered through Shopwww.greenvilletriumph.com.
The store, which is currently operating, is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday-Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A COVID-compliant grand opening event is planned for later this winter. The Triumph will begin defense of its 2020 USL League One Title later this spring, with the official 2021 schedule set to be released in the coming months.

Greenville, SC – The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club has signed attacking talent Don Smart to a one-year contract with an option for 2022, pending league and federation approval. The long-time veteran joins the title-winning Greenville side after spending the 2019 and 2020 seasons with fellow League One club, Forward Madison FC.
Smart came to Forward Madison as their first-ever player signing in 2018, reuniting with Managing Director Peter Wilt, who was his General Manager with the Indy Eleven, as well as Sporting and Technical Director Daryl Shore, who was his assistant coach while playing for Miami FC 2. The Jamaican native appeared in 44 matches across two seasons with the Flamingos, scoring nine goals and adding eight assists.
Smart spent the 2018 season playing with Miami FC 2 in the National Premier Soccer League and made 17 appearances for the championship-winning side, scoring four goals and contributing seven assists. Prior to his lone season with Shore at Miami FC 2, Smart played three seasons with the NASL’s Indy Eleven from 2014 to 2017, tallying 95 appearances for the now-USL Championship club, scoring 10 goals and recording 12 assists.
‘I’m excited to start this new journey with the Greenville Triumph, and I’m looking forward to helping the team and the organization defend their championship title,” said Smart.
Smart joins a group of 14 returning players for the Triumph following the club’s season-end roster decisions announced last week.

A 16-match season ended with the Greenville Triumph crowned as USL League One Champions. With the year’s end just around the corner, it’s time to take a look back at the impressive stats and numbers that helped us get to the podium and collect the first league-title in club history.
The total number of USL League One Team of the Week appearances by Triumph players. The appearances came from 11 different players and include Player of the Week honors, which were given to winger Alex Morrell on three separate occasions while Lachlan McLean, the Australian rookie, led the team with a total of five weekly nods.
The number of times Head Coach John Harkes was named League One’s Coach of the Month. Harkes’ first monthly honor came in July after an undefeated start to the delayed 2020 season. His second honor came on the heels of an undefeated September that saw his side gain a perfect 12 points. Harkes’ championship season was stamped by being named League One’s Coach of the Year.
The total number of All-League First Team selections, marking the most of any club in League One. Veterans Dallas Jaye and Tyler Polak earned their second straight First-Team appearance, and were joined by Triumph newcomers Alex Morrell, Brandon Fricke and Noah Pilato. Dallas Jaye went on to win League One’s Goalkeeper of the Year, while Brandon Fricke narrowly edged out teammate Tyler Polak for Defender of the Year honors.
The number of goals scored by newcomers this season, which equates to almost 75% of all goals scored this year (23 scored, 24 total with one own-goal). At a rate of 60 minutes/per goal compared to last year’s 77 minutes/per goal scored average, Greenville scoring improved quite a bit over the past season, thanks in no small part to the new Triumph attackers. In fact, three of the four players that sit in the multi-goal column for Greenville were newcomers this past season with the team’s leading goal scoring threat, Lachlan McLean, tallying seven goals through his ten starts.
The number of players who logged over 1,000 minutes played across the 16-match season. Aaron Walker, Cesar Murillo and Jake Keegan hit just above the 1,000 minute mark while central defenders Evan Lee and Brandon Fricke logged at or above 1,300 minutes played, as did midfielder Noah Pilato and winger Alex Morrell. Dallas Jaye logged a perfect 1,440 minutes played and left back Tyler Polak, also voted the team’s “Most Underrated Player,” missed only two minutes of action across the entire season for 1,438 minutes logged.
The total number of weeks spent at the top of the table, the most of any club in USL League One. Despite a three-game road stretch that saw Greenville go 1-2, it was as steady of a season as any club can hope to have with the team earning points in 13 of its’ 16 matches. Greenville’s 11-3-2 record is highlighted by a 7-1-0 record at its’ home pitch. But most importantly, Greenville’s 16-week stretch was highlighted by the lifting of the club’s first ever league trophy.
The fewest number of goals allowed throughout League One. There’s no secret that Greenville has turned into a destination for the League’s top defensive talent. For yet another season, the Triumph defenders, alongside Golden Glove winner Dallas Jaye, built an almost impenetrable wall that shut down several of the league’s most dynamic offenses.
The number of Triumph players to earn “back to backs.” Goalkeeper Dallas Jaye earned several awards he previously held in 2019 including Goalkeeper of the Year, Golden Glove and a member on the All-League First Team. Tyler Polak also joins Jaye with back to back First Team nods while defender Cesar Murillo became the first, and so far only, player with back-to-back League One titles.
The total dollar amount raised for our “Match to Triumph” campaign benefitting United Way of Greenville County’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. “Match to Triumph” was a way for our organization to embody every ounce of our mission statement — use the game of soccer to unite and uplift the Upstate. Much like our season, “Match to Triumph” was a resounding success because of the willingness and participation of our friends, family and supporters. That momentum was carried throughout our 16 games ending with a trophy not only for our club, but for our community. Thank you, Upstate. Thank you, Triumph Nation!

Greenville, SC – The Greenville Triumph SC has announced the re-signing of several key players from the 2020 title-winning team, as the club agreed to new deals with 14 players as a part of its year-end moves, pending league and federation approval.
Triumph veterans Evan Lee, Max Hemmings, and JJ Donnelly will join 2020 newcomers Alex Morrell, Noah Pilato, Cesar Murillo, Paul Christensen, Abdi Mohamed, Andrew Booth and Lachlan McLean along with 2020 League One Defender of the Year, Brandon Fricke, and two-time Goalkeeper of the Year and Golden Glove Winner, Dallas Jaye. Triumph co-captains Aaron Walker and Tyler Polak, a 2019 and 2020 All-League First Team selection, have also re-signed with Greenville.

In total, the club is set to return 22 Team of the Week appearances, seven All-League team selections and 18 of their 23 goals from the 2020 season.
The club has declined contract options on Trevor Swartz, Harri Hawkins, Matt Powell, Colin Stripling and Carlos Gomez, making these players free agents. Paul Clowes, Jake Keegan and Omar Mohamed are also free agents following the conclusion of their deals with the club. These transactions do not prevent players from re-signing with the club during the transfer period.
