Greenville, SC – Greenville Triumph SC shored up its goalkeeping position with the addition of former Big Ten GK David Greczek, pending league and federation approval. Greczek will travel with the team to face the Richmond Kickers on Saturday as Golden Glove leader Dallas Jaye competes with the Guam National Team in round two of qualifying for the 2020 World Cup.
Greczek, a native of Fairfield, New Jersey, comes to the Triumph following a year-long stint with NPSL side FC Motown that included in appearance in the 2018 Championship Game.
“I want to thank John Harkes and the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to join the club. This group welcomed me with open arms and that alone speaks for itself. With the final stretch of the season, the team has put themselves in a fantastic position to win the league. I want to help the club, the supporters and the community lift the trophy in October.”
Following a standout career at Rutgers, Greczek was drafted 58th overall by Sporting Kansas City in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He was later assigned to the club’s USL affiliate, Swope Park Rangers, for the remainder of the 2017 season. Greczek holds the all-time saves record at Rutgers University with 372 career saves in 75 games.
