Triumph co-captain will return to the club for his fifth season
Greenville, SC (January 11, 2023)- The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club has announced the re-signing of Tyler Polak ahead of the 2023 season, pending league and federation approval. This will be veteran defender’s fifth season with the club.
The Lincoln, Nebraska native appeared in 20 matches for Triumph SC during the 2022 season, totaling 1,495 minutes of playing time. Polak will return healthy in 2023 after missing the latter portion of 2022 with a knee injury. He has been a vital asset in the clubs’ success in past seasons, assisting in the club’s USL League One title win in 2020. Polak was named to the USL League One All- League First Team in 2019 and was also among the top six defenders with 160 recoveries.
Prior to joining Greenville as the first signed player during the club’s inaugural season, Polak spent the 2018 season with the Saint Louis FC and the 2016 and 2017 seasons with FC Cincinnati alongside Head Coach John Harkes. He was selected 22nd overall in the MLS SuperDraft by New England Revolution in 2012.
Greenville welcomes back Tyler Polak along with 11 returning players, including his co-captain Aaron Walker, and new signee Tevin Shaw. The Triumph begins its 2023 regular season on March 25th with a match versus the Richmond Kickers. The season opener will take place at the new home of the Triumph, Paladin Stadium.
