21-year-old defender invited to play in CAD AFCON Qualifiers in 2025
Greenville, SC (March 11, 2024) – Hassan Gabo, a second-year Triumph defender and native of Somalia, has earned his first international call-up to participate in the CAD AFCON Qualification 2025 as part of the Somali National Senior Team. Gabo is set to compete in the AFCON Q2025 Preliminary Matches against Eswatini scheduled for March 20th-26th. This marks Gabo’s second time representing the Somali Football Federation, following his initial invitation to play with the Somalia under-20 side at the 2022 Arab Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Before signing his first professional contract, Gabo was trained by brothers and former Greenville players Omar and Abdi Mohamed through their soccer development program in Somalia, the 18×26 Academy. With his latest invitation, Gabo becomes the first Triumph player to secure an international call-up during the 2024 season.
Other notable Triumph players who have made international appearances during their time with the club include Dallas Jaye (Guam), Omar Mohamed (Somalia), Peter Pearson (Saint Lucia), and Venton Evans (Jamaica).
Gabo is expected to be on international duty until March 27th. Make sure to follow him and the Somali National Team on their socials as they prepare to take on Eswatini this March.
