Greenville, S.C. (August 1, 2026) – Greenville Triumph SC battled back from a two-goal first-half deficit to earn a dramatic 3-3 draw against Portland Hearts of Pine on Saturday night at GE Vernova Park in the second meeting between the two clubs this season.
Portland struck first in the 28th minute before doubling its advantage just four minutes later, putting the visitors ahead 2-0 midway through the opening half.
Greenville responded in the 37th minute through Muba Nour, who found the back of the net for his first goal in a Triumph shirt. The finish came on the same day the club announced the midfielder had signed a contract for the remainder of the 2026 season, cutting the deficit to 2-1 before halftime.
Nour continued his standout night early in the second half, scoring again in the 52nd minute to complete his first brace for Greenville and level the match at 2-2. After the match, Nour credited the team’s resilience and commitment to the game plan.
“We stuck to the game plan, created some good chances, and it’s always nice to contribute,” Nour said. “There are still things we can improve on, but we’re happy with the result and we’ll keep building going into the next match.”
Just two minutes later, Connor Evans earned a dangerous free kick just outside the penalty area as the Triumph searched for its first lead of the evening.
Portland answered to regain the advantage, but Greenville refused to fade. In the 70th minute, goalkeeper Amal Knight produced a crucial save to deny a clear scoring opportunity, keeping the Triumph within one goal and preserving the chance for a late comeback.
Deep into stoppage time, Azaad Liadi stepped up over a free kick and curled home the equalizer in the 90+2nd minute, sending the home crowd into celebration as Greenville salvaged a hard-fought point.
The Triumph showed resilience throughout the night, overcoming a two-goal deficit behind Muba Nour’s breakout performance and Azaad Liadi’s late heroics to earn a thrilling 3-3 draw. Head coach Dave Dixon praised his team’s determination after battling back from a 3-1 deficit.
“I just think the grit, determination, and heart they showed to come back after being down 3-1 was outstanding,” Dixon said. “To fight all the way back to tie the match, and then even create a bunch of corners at the end while trying to take all three points, you’ve got to be really happy with that. It’s a credit to their mentality, and it’s something we can continue to build on.”
Greenville now turns its attention to the road as the Triumph travels to face Charlotte on August 8 in the latest edition of the I-85 Showdown.
