Greenville celebrates its supporters and honors retiring players on Fan Appreciation Night at GE Vernova Park.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (October 17, 2026) – Greenville Triumph SC welcomed Charlotte Independence to GE Vernova Park on Saturday night for the Battle of I-85 and the final home match of the 2026 season. The match marked the club’s second sold-out game of the season as fans gathered for Fan Appreciation Night.
Before kickoff, the club honored Brandon Fricke and Leo Castro, who will retire at the end of the season, recognizing their contributions to the Triumph.
The match opened with an end-to-end battle as both sides looked to create scoring opportunities. In the 26th minute, Azaad Liadi came close to finding the back of the net, but Charlotte responded in the 27th minute with the opening goal to take a 1-0 lead.
The Triumph continued to compete throughout the match, but Charlotte extended its advantage in the 84th minute with a second goal before adding another to secure a 3-0 victory.
In the 69th minute, Castro entered the match for his final home appearance at GE Vernova Park, giving supporters one last opportunity to see the longtime Triumph forward on home turf.
Despite the result, the evening provided an opportunity to celebrate the fans who supported the club throughout the season and recognize two players who have been part of its history.
The Triumph will close out the 2026 season on Saturday, October 24, on the road against the Richmond Kickers.
